In the context of EAC's planning with regard to using Renewable Energy Sources (RES), a 425kW photovoltaic (PV) system has now been installed at the Authority's Head Offices in Amphipoleos Street, Strovolos, Nicosia.
The system consists of three components, installed on the curved roof of the building, on the sunshades on the south-facing wall and in the Customer Service Centre car park respectively.
The tender for the construction of the system was awarded to the company which had submitted the best techno-economic bid. Despite the technical complexity of the project and the restrictions in force due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The whole system was designed with a view to its being harmoniously incorporated into the building and able to support its functionality. EAC customers can now enjoy better service thanks to the covered parking area, while the sunshades contribute to covering the building's energy requirements. The PV system is expected to cover some 40% of the total annual consumption of EAC's Head Offices.
Similar planning is under way for all the other EAC buildings across Cyprus.
